Magnetic Particle

Magnetic Particle Testing is a technique by which an electromagnetic yoke is used in conjunction with specially formulated iron powders are used to detect surface breaking indications on any ferromagnetic material to assist in determining the material integrity.

Wet Fluorescent

Wet fluorescent magnetic particle testing is possibly the most sensitive of the MT techniques. Fine fluorescent iron oxide particles are suspended in light oil. This fluid is sprayed on the surface to be inspected in the presence of an induced magnetic field from a central conductor, coil, or electromagnetic yoke. The particles gather at breaks in the field caused by surface defects. Under a fluorescent inspection light, the cracks or other discontinuities become readily apparent.
