Equally valuably, the tester can help avoid premature replacement based on fixed interval replacement schedules. It is a dual channel system capable of testing wire rope at speeds of up to 600 ft/min. While the wire rope passes through the instrument test head, it is examined for both localized flaws (eg. broken wires) and general metal loss (eg. corrosion or abrasion).
