Bend Testing

Bend testing is commonly performed on welded test coupons to ensure the weld is sufficiently ductile, and will not tear, crack or fracture. Testing is performed by bending a prepared coupon over a specifically sized mandrel, across a specific span. Bend testing is a requirement of most codes and standards for weld procedure qualification testing, such as CSA W47.1, Z662, and ASME Section IX.
