Established in 1991, fga-Acuren is a cohesive team of engineers and inspection specialists providing services to local, Canadian, and international markets. We specialize in the provision of non-destructive testing services, destructive testing services, and materials engineering. We have over 100 engineers and technicians in Atlantic Canada, supported by over 2000 personnel throughout North America. Our staff are certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Canadian General Standards Board, Society for Non-destructive Testing(SNT) and American Petroleum Institute(API).

fga-Acuren is an affiliate of Rockwood Service Inc., the merger of Longview Holdings (USA) and Acuren Group Inc. (Canada). Rockwood Services Inc. represents the largest non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection group in the world. Other members of the Rockwood Services Group include Bacon Donaldson, The Hellier Training Institute, and Sperry Rail Service.

Non-Destructive Testing

Non-destructive testing (NDT) service is our core business and consists primarily of industrial radiography, utrasonics, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual inspection. However, we also provide additional specialized services such as remote video sopes, ultrasonic B-scanning, magnetic flux leakage scanning, acoustic emission monitoring, real time radiography, positive material identification, in-situ metallographic analysis, and Microdur hardness testing by local personnel. We have over 400 person years experience in Atlantic Canada alone.

Included in our NDT service is a rope access program. ACUREN is one of the first NDT companies in North America to broadly introduce rope access training for our technicians. Currently we have over 30 individuals across Canada with Rope Access Certification. As the requirement for this service increases, especially in the offshore sector, we will continue to train more individuals.

Our experiance covers a wide spectrum of materials, equipment and environments. Onshore and offshore, we have performed tests on tanks, pressure vessels, marine vessels, heat exchangers, structural components, welds, piping (including stainless) to name only a few. Our expertise also includes lifting equipment. We perform load testing, wire rope examination, bolt torque testing and strain gauging on all applicable components of fixed or mobile cranes, boom trucks, forklifts, manlifts or ship mounted cranes. A Professional Engineer, as required by CSA, supervises all tests.

Destructive Testing

Each year we provide a wide range of destructive testing services to local clients from our ISO 9001 registerd laboratory in Edmonton. Typical testig services would include tensile tests, bend tests, Vickers/Rockwell hardness testing, Charpy V notch impact testing, nick breaks, and macro examinations.

Materials Engineering

Failure analysis and materials evaluation/selection services are also provided regularly to a variety of clients. Typically, this involves chemical analysis, microstructure evaluation, scanning electron microscopy and WRC ferrite determination.

Data Management

fga-ACUREN has available, an in-house software tool for data management. This is a unique platform for inspection data management that can be applied to any industry. DMAPS allows the operation to establish a Risk based Inspection program which can save money and extend the life of an asset. We also have a document management program which clients can access through our website.
